Titles have typically been arriving while I am working on the piece. They sort of form a broken record that starts playing when I step back to look.
This is a cropping from the first large piece I started in my new space. I did a lot of work on it and then left it idle for over a month until this week. This piece is a great example of some of the aspects of discipline that I experience from my work. I knew that in order to apply the transfer that you see to the canvas I would have to take the canvas off the stretcher. Stretching canvas is a very labor intensive process and stretching a canvas back onto a stretcher that has already been painted is even more difficult. But there was no way around it. If I wanted the effect, it had to come off. So at some point I will be restretching this canvas and I will complain to myself but in the end I will be glad I did it.
Transfers have been on my mind a lot lately. I especially like how these old illustrations turn out with this technique.
