These are a pair of boots that I was asked to paint for the Soulsville Foundation (www.soulsvillefoundation.org). They were also signed by 2011 Grammy Award winning saxophonist Kirk Whalum (www.kirkwhalum.com)
“AK’s and Camouflage”
This was a piece that I completed for an art show at Sycamore View Church of Christ here in Memphis, TN. The theme of the show was “In the presence of my enemies…”
The finished painting was framed in 1”x7” poplar boards that had been shot 7 times with a .38 special to give the appearance of a burst from an automatic weapon.
The purpose of the painting was to show the former Al Quaeda leader without the primary visual elements that we associate with him that form the terrorist that we were introduced to.
I tend to disagree with most things but I try not let anyone know that. Art is my subtle form of rebellion - a way of demonstrating what I know to be undeniably true. I know truth because it cannot speak and often leaves you talking to yourself.
“The end all be all” update
Frame has been manufactured. I will be picking it up next week. You should see more cohesion once I implement the frame.
“Cindy’s lamp”
Laminated map turned into a hanging pull-chain lamp. Roughly 18” in diameter and 36” tall.
